Sea Cross in Rewa Most Recognizable Landmarks in the Town
Currently, the Sea Cross in Rewa is one of the most recognizable landmarks in the entire town. Additionally, in 2004, the Alley of People Meritorious for the Sea was established near the cross. The cross was funded by the residents of the Kosakowo municipality as a memorial for the sea victims. It was consecrated by Archbishop Tadeusz Gocłowski. In the past, the deceased who died during frequent plagues were buried next to the cross. In 1922, a Mass took place at the foot of the cross, attended by General Józef Haller. The plaque is dedicated to General Józef Haller, Jan Leszczyński, and Klemens Długi. Since then, three brass plaques with the names of outstanding seafaring individuals have been regularly placed in the Alley of Meritorious every year. The plaques are in the shape of a compass rose. This attraction has become an integral part of the lives of residents and tourists visiting Rewa by the sea.
